Historic Downtown Charlottesville
Located just two blocks away from the original courthouse where Presidents Jefferson, Madison and Monroe once practiced law, in the heart of the Historic District, is the downtown pedestrian mall. It's the place for shopping, dining and entertainment. There are over 8 city blocks filled with locally-owned specialty retail shops; within one of the more than 100 shops you are sure to find just what you are looking for, whether it is antiques, used books, regional handcrafts, clothing or a special gift. You'll also find live theater, art galleries, cinema and live music. The Mall is also the place to dine while in the area. There are over 50 restaurants, most with outdoor seating.
